The Daily Telegraph - August 5 1995 – Tim Lusher
"The quality of the painting seemed to me astounding", Brian Sewell says. "Its almost incredible that someone of his age could paint so delicately, especially when we have gone through 20 years of rough, bad painting which has had support and acclaim. Here was something beautifully painted, put together and observed.

Proper painting, really."The style is certainly not fashionable but that should not matter to people who care. Nick seemed to me to be a painter plodding away at the business of painting...I have seen one or two of his things in London and they seemed a trifle obsessive, but that can make a painting interesting.

"...If I’m ever asked to put on a mixed exhibition again...I shall ask him again,"
