An exhibition of Nicholas Charles Williams' large scale triptych 'Desideratum' has opened this week at Liverpool Cathedral. The painting will be on display until 2 February at the city's magnificent Anglican cathedral for the opening of Liverpool's 'European Capital of Culture 2008.' The exhibition forms part of the international programme of events including Sir Simon Rattle returning to guest-conduct the Liverpool Philharmonic, new work by Tracey Emin, a concert featuring Sir Paul McCartney, a performance of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem at Liverpool Cathedral and the first comprehensive exhibition of Gustav Klimt’s work ever staged in the UK. Following the exhibition in Liverpool the work will go on display at St Mary-le-Bow Church, London from 6 February to mid June 2008.
